Word Study For Today: The Book of II Peter Chapter 1
Devotion: ALL KNOWING, ALL SEEING
Text: II Samuel 12:1-15. | Revelation 2:1-29. | Revelation 3:1-22.
God is not unaware of our daily living. How He monitors the mega multitude of persons on the surface of the earth all at once, and to detail without missing anything out is incomprehensible. The magnitude of what the details of this depth of monitoring entails is perhaps what fools many to think anyone can do anything and escape[without God taking note of it]. >“O God, You know my folly; My wrongs are not hidden from You.”[Psalm 69:5 AMP].
Absolutely nothing is hidden from God. It’s not only the record of wrong that’s known to Him, but also the deeds of good. HE KNOWS IT ALL. >“‘I know your deeds and your toil, and your patient endurance…[Rev.2:2a].
It’s amazing but true without an iota of lie. >1)“O LORD, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me. 2)You know when I sit down and when I rise up [my entire life, everything I do]; You understand my thought from afar. 3)You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And You are intimately acquainted with all my ways. 4)Even before there is a word on my tongue [still unspoken], Behold, O LORD, You know it all.”[Psalm 139:1-4 AMP].
David perhaps never thought it through that His actions were expressly visible to the Eyes of One that sees the secret in secret. Taking Beersheba behind closed doors did not make the action of closed doors unknown to God. Oh, even the scheming of evil in David’s heart way before he hatched it, God saw it all. Or how else do you explain the message as delivered by prophet Nathan? >2 Samuel 12:7, 9 (AMP)==>7)“Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘I anointed you as king over Israel, and I spared you from the hand of Saul. 9)‘Why have you despised the word of the LORD by doing evil in His sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife. You have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.”
To the seven churches[His lampstands], God sent to them, the report of His knowledge of them. Oh, this God is too detailed. >Revelation 2:2, 9, 13 (AMP)==>“‘I know your deeds and your toil, and your patient endurance, and that you cannot tolerate those who are evil, and have tested and critically appraised those who call themselves apostles (special messengers, personally chosen representatives, of Christ), and [in fact] are not, and have found them to be liars and impostors; 9)‘I know your suffering and your poverty (but you are rich), and how you are blasphemed and slandered by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan [they are Jews only by blood, and do not believe and truly honor the God whom they claim to worship]. 13)‘I know where you dwell, [a place] where Satan sits enthroned. Yet you are holding fast to My name, and you did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed (martyred) among you, where Satan dwells.”
He knows our patience and impatience, our endurance and haste are not hidden from Him; our toiling and ease are visible to Him. No one can form for this God. >1)“Now a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,” 2)“and with his wife’s full knowledge [and complicity] he kept back some of the proceeds, bringing only a portion of it, and set it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and [secretly] keep back for yourself some of the proceeds [from the sale] of the land?”[Acts 5:2-3 AMP].
Lie to God? That’s foolishness. Why hide what He already saw?He knew your plans before you ever hatched them. >“Then Peter said to her, “How could you two have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test?…”[Acts 5:9 AMP]. We all do this as flesh; but let it be known yet again today that our God, HE KNOWS IT ALL. >“‘I know your deeds, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your last deeds are more numerous and greater than the first.”[Revelation 2:19 AMP]. >1)…‘I know your deeds; you have a name (reputation) that you are alive, but [in reality] you are dead.” 8)“‘I know your deeds. See, I have set before you an open door which no one is able to shut, for you have a little power, and have kept My word, and have not renounced or denied My name.”[Revelation 3:8 AMP].
Amazing! God knows the measure of our last deeds. He knows the one who has a reputation of being alive yet is actually dead[present but not present, signed on but not engaging, smiling but hateful] Wow! >“Such [infinite] knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high [above me], I cannot reach it.”[Psalm 139:6 AMP].
Beloved the Psalmist is apt when he thought deeply on these >7)“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8)If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead), behold, You are there. 9)If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, 10)Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will take hold of me. 11)If I say, “Surely the darkness will cover me, And the night will be the only light around me,” 12)Even the darkness is not dark to You and conceals nothing from You, But the night shines as bright as the day; Darkness and light are alike to You.”[Psalm 139:7-12 AMP].
To where then can we also run for cover away from our Covering? Our God is too deep, nothing can ever be concealed from Him. It’s best we come to terms with the reality of Who He is and settle in knowing that our God is so deep, HE KNOWS IT ALL.
-Praise the all knowing God.
-Pray in the Spirit for 15 minutes.
-Knowing that He knows it all, humble yourself and open to Him acknowledging your flaws and faults even like David[not like Sapphira].
-Ask the Lord for mercy and guidance through your path in life, that your deeds may be centred on His Will forever.
- I KNOW YOUR DEEDS… Says GOD.
