Word Study for Today: The Book of Psalms Chapter 119:81-104.

Devotion: DON’T WORRY.

Text: Luke 12:22-31. | Acts 10:9-29. | Philippians 4:6-9.

Worry emanates from the thoughts entertained within the mind. It takes root and springs from disturbing and tormenting thoughts. Worry is the first name of anxiety [which is a state of apprehension and uneasiness of mind]. Many things can trigger this mode, but the Bible clearly says in >Philippians 4:6 (NLT)==>“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.” (NET)==>“Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.”

Worrying is such a liquid composition that it needs no special invitation or open doors before it sets in. It slips into people’s life sometimes unannounced and uncalled for. How many times have you found yourself in such anxious state, that you suddenly stop in your tracks asking yourself ‘what exactly is wrong with me? Why am I anxious?” Worry is very paralytic and parasitic. It takes so much from you, drains you, adds nothing to you, and in addition numbs you. It renders useless if care is not taken appropriately. >Luke 12:25-26 (NIV)==>“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”

Nothing positive is added to you by worrying rather it is an avenue to deposit evil (sickness, lack of productivity etc.). If worry can’t add a single hour to our life, just a single hour, why entertain it. Worry does no good to anyone.

It is said >Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’[Matthew 6:31 AMP]

Stop bothering yourself or allowing yourself to be bothered by things. “Easier said than done”… did you say? Well in human ability, worry or worrying is master, but with God involved, worry(worrying) is a slave that can and is subjugated anytime it raises it’s ugly head [because honestly, worry is ugly]. Why indulge in what paralyses you? Why get acquainted to what drains you out? DON’T WORRY about anything nor allow or entertain worry about everything. >”And don’t worry about those donkeys that were lost three days ago, for they have been found. And I am here to tell you that you and your family are the focus of all Israel’s hopes.”[1 Samuel 9:20 NLT]>“Don’t worry about your belongings, for the best of all the land of Egypt will be yours.’[Genesis 45:20 NET]>““Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!”[1 Samuel 17:32 NLT]. >“Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong.”[Psalms 37:1 NLT]>when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given you within that [very] hour;”[Matthew 10:19 AMP].

>…Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.”[Psalms 37:7b NLT].>…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.”[Matthew 6:34 NET].

Wow! Too many things we can worry about, scripture has captured or implied and classified them all as reasons not to worry. God is saying to you, like Boaz said to Ruth in >Ruth 3:11 (NET)==>“Now, my dear, don’t worry! I intend to do for you everything you propose, for everyone in the village knows that you are a worthy woman.”

Beloved take heed >“Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.”[Proverbs 12:25 NLT].

>“So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy…[Ecclesiastes 11:10a NLT].

Refuse to worry; worry if allowed and tolerated, will only leave you in a state of ill health. Worry does no one good, it changes nothing positively. So, DON’T WORRY!

Prayer Action:

-O Worship the King Who is all so glorious above.

-Speak for 15 minutes, in the language that cast out every fear.

-From the depth of your heart, ask the Lord for help over worry. Pray that the Lord gives you capacity over your ability to deal with every trace of worry and its inroad into your life.

-Pray that the Lord will allay every source of worry in your life by speaking His mind to you about those anxious situations. [He has the voice that calms fears].

  • BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING; WORRY NOT!
