Word Study For Today: The Book f Psalms Chapter 55.
Devotion: DRAW NEAR TO GOD.
Text: Ecclesiastes 12:1-7. | Hebrews 10:19-25.
You cannot afford to stand aloof away from God your Creator [Maker of heaven and earth]. Standing aloof is to be far away from your target (not necessarily in physical distance). Is God important to you? Does God possess your properties and priorities? Does He appear to you like One you need or would you rather do without Him? Beloved, only a fool says there’s no God. >Psalms 14:1 (NLT)==>“Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!” Scripture says in Isaiah 55:6(NLT)==>“Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.”
Go after God. He is much more and worth more than gold. No possession can ever compare to Him. Just as He Himself had said to Abraham, He is saying to you > “I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”[Genesis 15:1b KJV]. A Shield(Protector) and exceeding great reward is He to you. Would you toy with such a Personality? Would you trivialize the Potter? >Isaiah 45:9 (KJV)==> “Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou?”
This is the time of reasoning because >“The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.”[Psalms 145:18 [NKJV]. >“The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.” [Psalms 34:18 NKJV]
DRAW NEAR TO GOD! Draw near to the God of our salvation. >James 4:8 (NIV)==>“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
>“let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” [Hebrews 10:22 NKJV]
Yes this is the time and always will be the time to draw close [and closer still to God]. Tomorrow may be too late. Now is the moment.
>“Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself…” [Numbers 16:9 NKJV].
Having given you room in Himself, avail yourself of same; a golden opportunity. Do not harden your heart as to turn your backs or stand aloof. Be not like those who merely spew by the mouth yet are far off…>“She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the Lord; she drew not near to her God.”[Zephaniah 3:2 KJV].
>“‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.”[Matthew 15:8 NKJV].
Such a dangerous place to be. Hear God’s verdict: >“Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore… the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.”[Isaiah 29:13-14 KJV].
Be like Moses and not like the Israelites whom he led out of Egypt. YOU, draw near to God, HEAR WHAT HE WOULD SAY TO YOU. Those who draw near hear Him first hand, undiluted/unadulterated.
>Deuteronomy 5:27 (NKJV)==> “You go near and hear all that the LORD our God may say, and tell us all that the LORD our God says to you, and we will hear and do it. ’”
Why would you feed on handouts when you can as well feed directly? DRAW NEAR TO GOD; share intimacy with Him; bare your burdens[hear His heartbeat as well]. Be deliberate, be resolute, draw nigh at all cost. >Mark 2:4 (NKJV)==> “And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.”
Wow! They wanted to draw close at all cost to get His attention, they went beyond barriers, broke down lids(roof), removed the caps, circumvented bottlenecks and got across to Him despite all odds. Beloved be challenged>>> DRAW NEAR TO GOD! >“For the law never made anything perfect. But now we have confidence in a better hope, through which we draw near to God.” [Hebrews 7:19 NLT].
There’s hope for you in Him. Make up your mind. Don’t separate or alienate yourself from God.
>“But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.”[Psalms 73:28 NLT].
>Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)says ==>“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Come on now! DRAW NEAR TO GOD!
Prayer Action:
**Praise the Lord Almighty heartily.
**Pray in the language of His Presence for 15 minutes.
**Beyond mere words, speak to God and submit yourself unto Him truly and fully[DRAW NEAR, DRAW CLOSE].
**Hear Him, receive of Him(no one encounters Him for nothing, there must be a rubbing off).
