Word Study For Today: The Book Of Psalms Chapter 54.
Devotion: FEAR OF THE LORD.
Text: Acts 10:1-8. | Job 1:1-5. | Nehemiah 7:1-3.
God of heaven and earth, the One unto Whom power[all power] belongs is the One, whom we ought to fear above anyone else all of our days. >“For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.”[Psalms 96:4 NKJV].
>Jeremiah 10:7 (AMP)==>“Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? For it is appropriate and it is Your due! For among all the wise men of the nations And in all their kingdoms, There is none like You.”
It is appropriate and just to FEAR THE LORD. Our God is great and should be greatly praised and feared above all else. The fear of God is crucial to the point where in bible days, it appeared as part of people’s profile>Nehemiah 7:2 (NKJV)==> “that I gave the charge of Jerusalem to my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the leader of the citadel, for he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.” >Acts 10:1-2 (NKJV)==>1)“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, 2)a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.”
>Job 1:1 (NKJV)==>“There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.”
>Genesis 22:12 (NKJV)==>“And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.””
>Genesis 31:53 (NKJV)==>“The God of Abraham, the God of Nahor, and the God of their father judge between us.” And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.”
Can it be said of you in similar manner, that God is your fear? By the level of fear that Isaac had for God, a tag came of it (God was referred to) as the “fear of Isaac”. What a profile!
To fear God is not for nothing. The fear of the Lord brings about your praise>Proverbs 31:30 (NKJV)==>“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.”
The fear of the Lord will provoke great measure of His mercy towards you >Psalms 103:11 (NKJV)==>“For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;”.
You fear the Lord?; then length of days is your portion. >Proverbs 10:27a (NKJV)==>“The fear of the LORD prolongs days…”
>Proverbs 19:23 (NKJV)==>“The fear of the LORD leads to life, And he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil.”
The fear of the Lord brings you right under the protection of the Lord. Safe and secure will your path be as the Lord not only release His angels to guard you every where you go, but He Himself watches over you and yours. >Psalms 33:18 (NLT)==>“But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love.”
>Psalms 34:7 (NLT)==>“For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.”
By the fear you have for God, you will be shown the path to tread. God becomes your GPS because you fear Him. The fear of Him will also bring you into prosperity and your desired riches and honor. >Proverbs 22:4 (NLT)==>“…fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life.”
>Psalms 25:12-14 (NLT)==>12)“Who are those who fear the Lord? He will show them the path they should choose. 13)They will live in prosperity, and their children will inherit the land. 14)The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant.”
It is bound to be well with you even as you FEAR GOD[>“…I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.” Ecclesiastes 8:12 NKJV].
BLESS THE LORD ALL YOU WHO FEAR HIM.
>Psalms 135:19-20 (NKJV)==>19)“Bless the LORD, O house of Israel! Bless the LORD, O house of Aaron! 20)Bless the LORD, O house of Levi! You who fear the LORD, bless the LORD!”
