Word Study For Today: The Book of Proverbs  Chapter 8

Devotion: HE DESERVES OUR ACCOLADES!

Text: 1 Samuel 2:2-10. | Luke 1:46-54. | John 12:12-13.

To hail is to cheer, salute, acclaim, honor, exhale, glorify, enthusiastically approve. The Jews took to the street to cheer Jesus up, they hailed Him, and gave Him glory, lining the street with palm fronts, giving Him ACCOLADES as He rode on the colt into Jerusalem.

Accolade is laudatory admiration of someone, it is an expression of praise for the person or thing in question. Without a doubt our God deserves ACCOLADE.

After the eventful crossing of the Red Sea by the children of Israel, and the defeat of their arch enemy in same sea, Miriam couldn’t contain herself, she gathered the women(as the women leader), and chose to give God the ACCOLADES He more than deserved >Exodus 15:20-21 (NKJV)==> 20)“Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. 21)And Miriam answered them: “Sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!””

Moses had earlier on led the children of Israel in song, giving ACCOLADES to God Almighty in the first thirteen verses of Exodus 15. God has done in their lives what had never happened to any nation before, so why won’t they express their admiration of Him, giving Him glory and honor even as they praised Him.

>1)“Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying: “I will sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! 2)The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. 3)The LORD is a man of war; The LORD is His name. 4)Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. 5(The depths have covered them; They sank to the bottom like a stone. 6)“Your right hand, O LORD, has become glorious in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has dashed the enemy in pieces.”[Exodus 15:1-6 NKJV].

That was pure wisdom displayed by Moses and even Miriam. Who would not be amazed, hence excessively grateful for the unprecedented deliverance from his oppressors such as Israel was exceedingly grateful to God? God deserves honor, glory, adoration, admiration, and every colorful shades of ACCOLADE.

>“As your name deserves, O God, you will be praised to the ends of the earth. Your strong right hand is filled with victory.”[Psalms 48:10 NLT]Therefore it is expedient to >“Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.”[1 Chronicles 16:29 NLT].

Hannah, after all the taunting of many years in the hand of Peninnah her mate, God turned to her to open her womb even as she asked of Him at the Shiloh annual conference. Her husband had asked her in the moments of her sorrow and brokenness, >“Why are you crying, Hannah?” Elkanah would ask. “Why aren’t you eating? Why be downhearted just because you have no children? You have me—isn’t that better than having ten sons?””

[1 Samuel 1:8 NLT].

But of course nothing and no one creation compares to a woman having her own child(ren). Elkanah therefore couldn’t have been to Hannah a child not to mention be to her ten children. Nothing equates it. God in His infinite mercy then looked down from heaven above to do for Hannah what Elkanah and no one else could ever do. It is no wonder at all that Hannah raised her laudatory honor, appreciation, gratitude, praise[ACCOLADES], unto God the giver of life and offsprings. >1 Samuel 2:2 (NLT)==>“No one is holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”

Indeed there’s no Rock as our God. He deserves the lifting up of our hands, He deserves our Halleluyah, He is worth more than lining the streets with palm fronts, He truly deserves our ACCOLADE.

Mary, [most blessed amongst ever-existed and existing woman], seeing the untold manifestation of God in her life, she lifted her voice in the house of Elizabeth, and gave God deserving ACCOLADES:

>“For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.”[Luke 1:49 NKJV].

Has God done you any good, is He deserving of cheers/honor from you? Would you pause on your racing track for a moment this day to think deep, take note, evaluate and articulate all that you have come through? At the center and behind it all Who do you see? If it is GOD, then He truly deserves your accolades!
