Word Study for Today: The Book of Psalm Chapter 109.

Devotion:  HOPE ALIVE

Text: Job 14:7-9. | Micah 7-8. | Proverbs 24:16.

The saying of an anointed servant of God goes “it is not over until it is over”.  So very true a statement as to hold unto it. A tree that is hewed down, having its stomp in the ground, appears to a lay man as the end of the journey for that tree; but that’s far from true. Though that tree has been cut off, but like the man of God had said, it is not yet over for the tree just because it was cut down. At the touch of water, it will spring forth again from the stomp and it begins to grow till becomes mighty as to give others shade. Scriptures says >7)“For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease. 8)Though its root may grow old in the earth, And its stump may die in the ground, 9)Yet at the scent of water it will bud And bring forth branches like a plant.”[Job 14:7-9 NKJV]▪️

Another saying goes “the downfall of a man, is not the end of his life”. I dare say this also holds true; for at the “scent of water” he shall rise again. >“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.”[Micah 7:8 KJVA]▪️

When I fall I shall arise. The end is not in the fall of a man, rather the end is inevitable when hope is eroded. Absence of hope destroys a man but with hope even a dying soul is restored. >“There is hope only for the living. As they say, “It’s better to be a live dog than a dead lion!””Ecclesiastes 9:4 NLT]▪️

With life there’s hope, with hope there’s possibility. God Almighty makes impossibility possible [but not to a “dead lion”]. Keep your HOPE ALIVE.

>Hebrews 10:35 (KJV)==>“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.”▪️Don’t give up, do not cast off restraint. Job said to himself >Though He slay me, I will hope in Him…[Job 13:15a NASB]▪️

Of course, he knew that with his Hope alive, all things are possible.

The Father of faith, father Abraham, had such high level of hope to the point that against all odds he had hope [against hope], but the beauty is God came through for him. Sarah’s seemingly dead womb and Abraham’s appearing dead body, received life again because their hope was alive. >Romans 4:18 (GNT)==> “Abraham believed and hoped, even when there was no reason for hoping, and so became “the father of many nations.” Just as the scripture says, “Your descendants will be as many as the stars.”▪️

Hope does not disappoint nor make ashamed. The hope of a righteous man will not be cut short. >Proverbs 23:18 (NASB )==> “Surely there is a future, And your hope will not be cut off.”▪️

>Romans 5:5a (NKJV)==>“Now hope does not disappoint…▪️>Romans 5:5a (KJV) ==> “And hope maketh not ashamed…▪️

Beloved, here’s a challenge to you >>>“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”[Romans 12:12 ESV]▪️Be deliberate keep your Hope Alive and rejoice in that hope you have. Apostle Paul boldly said >“I have hope in God…” [Acts 24:15 NKJV▪️

For your hope to be hope indeed, it must be such as is directed towards God. Bible says >Psalms 20:7 (ESV)==>“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”▪️>Psalms 71:5 (NASB)==>“For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my confidence from my youth.”▪️>Psalms 39:7 (NKJV)==>And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.”▪️> Psalms 71:14 (NASB)==>…as for me, I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.”▪️

Ask today >“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”[Psalms 42:11 ESV]▪️

Child of God, >“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”[Romans 15:13 NLT▪️

Keep your HOPE ALIVE.
