Word Study For Today: The Book of Proverbs 5.
Devotion: IT’S TIME.
Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. | Luke 21:5-19. | Acts 4:1-22.
Time is allotted and apportioned to every single activity under the sun. When it is night in any time zone man finds himself, it is expected that human beings will retire to bed and sleep[it’s now left to each individual to decide to seize that apportioned (opportuned) time to sleep or not]. That one did not sleep for whatever reason(s), doesn’t rule out the fact that a time was earmarked for the rest and rejuvenation of the body. There’s always an appropriate time to take action on something, that time set out is for the actualization or consumption of that one or set of things is called opportunity.
>1)“There is a time for everything, and everything on earth has its special season. 2)There is a time to be born and a time to die. There is a time to plant and a time to pull up plants. 3)There is a time to kill and a time to heal. There is a time to destroy and a time to build. 4)There is a time to cry and a time to laugh. There is a time to be sad and a time to dance. 5)There is a time to throw away stones and a time to gather them. There is a time to hug and a time not to hug. 6)There is a time to look for something and a time to stop looking for it. There is a time to keep things and a time to throw things away. 7)There is a time to tear apart and a time to sew together. There is a time to be silent and a time to speak. 8)There is a time to love and a time to hate. There is a time for war and a time for peace.”[Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NCV].
This scripture above simply implies man has the opportunity to be born, to cry, to plant, to tear apart, to mend, to hate, to love etc. Whatever thing you set out to do there’s an ideal time to engaging or achieving it. That moment in time is the best time for it; a time of optimal and tangible results or benefits.
In Luke chapter 21, Jesus was trying to help His disciples have an understanding of time and especially a good time (opportune time)to speak up for Him. > 12)“But before all these things happen, people will arrest you and treat you cruelly. They will judge you in their synagogues and put you in jail and force you to stand before kings and governors, because you follow me. 13)But this will give you an opportunity to tell about me.”[Luke 21:12-13 (NCV)].
He was saying to His people, after you have seen this and seen that, this will happen and that will happen; when they do, know then that IT’S TIME! >>> Time to tell the world about Him. Opportunity to speak up and witness Jesus to others. Beloved we can’t afford not to be sensitive (in Luke 21, Jesus taught sensitivity) which is what we need in order to ascertain when IT’S TIME.
Little wonder then, Jesus’ disciple after His ascension into heaven, never slacked, nor missed any opportunity to chip it in so well that Jesus saves. They preached the gospel at every opportuned time.
Indeed IT’S TIME to talk about Jesus! Look around you every day, take note of what the Spirit is showing you par time, where He takes you par time, what He allows in your life par time. All these are indications of when to put in the sickle to harvest souls. >“But when the crop ripens, he immediately puts in the sickle [to reap], because [the time for] the harvest has come.”[Mark 4:29 AMP].
Peter didn’t miss it. Timid Peter, by reason of the infilling of the Holy Spirit, was able to stand up each time opportunity presented itself to witness for Christ. Peter who couldn’t acknowledge Jesus before a young palace girl, spoke up for Jesus boldly and bravely recording thousands of conversion of souls each time he availed the opportunity.
Child of God know this today, and don’t slack, when it’s time, IT’S TIME!
