Word Study For Today: The Book Of Psalm Chapter 44.

Devotion: LOVE IS NOT SIN.

Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13. | 1 John 4:7-19. | 1 Corinthians 16:14.

Love! Love! Love!

What is Love?

Love as dictionary defined is a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person; it is a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection. Love is admiration of self and or another.

The greatest book of all times, says God is love. Really? How could love be defined as a Being [the foremost Being ever and forever]? To define something via someone, is to say that person is an embodiment of what you seek to define. It therefore implies, in the attribute of that person you see the manifestation and true meaning of the word you seek to know.

In essence, to know what love is (real love), you need first to know God.> “…because God is love—so you can’t know Him if you don’t love. [1John 4:8 MSG].

Any love expressed to you outside the parameters of God, is not the real love. Love is best taught by the One Who is Love Himself.  And from 1 Corinthians chapter 13, God teaches love [what it is, and what it is not].

Scripture says no matter what extraordinary gifting I possess or feat I think I can perform, if I have not love [the attribute of God], I am nothing. It calls for reasoning therefore to study what love is, and begin to live it out [else, to God I am empty and of no effect].

>1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13 NLT)==> 4)“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5)or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6)It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7)Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 13)Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

God is all of these>>> God is kind, He is patient. His tender lovingkindness cannot be overemphasized. God is not irritable, rather tolerant with man to a fault.

God forgives, hence keeps no record of our wrongs once He forgives us. God is a just God, and so is intolerant with injustice.

He encourages us to love by defending people’s rights. God believes so much in His creation, never gives up on us. He has confidence in whom He created us to be, therefore He believes in us being able to do all things through His enabling strength.

He doesn’t give up on us no matter how many times we fail. He is adamant that we’d eventually get things right. He is hopeful, has faith and stands with us through all circumstances (in our highs and lows, God is there with us).

He is not a fair weather friend.

God abhors evil, He protects and preserves us (He will never leave, expose, lead or leave us to danger)

By the foregoing, it’s clearly relatable how truly God is an embodiment of Love. To love therefore we need to emulate the One Who has modeled love to us.

1 Corinthians16:14(NIV)==> “Do everything in love.”

Beloved, love is not as the world would have it. Real love is sinless. Real love is love through the eyes of God. Be careful what your interpretation and expression of love is.

LOVE, BUT SIN NOT.
