Word Study For Today: The Book of I Peter Chapter 5.

Texts: Ephesians 5:16-17. | Nehemiah 2:4-10; Nehemiah 4:1-23. | 1 Corinthians 16:9.

The scripture says the times are evil. We live in evil times >Ephesians 5:16 (AMP) reads ==>“making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil.”

If the Bible days were evil days, how much more are the days we have found ourselves? Certainly these days are evil laddened and evil ridden. It’s gotten to a point where people find it hard to share testimonies of what God has done for them, they are scared to open up their new big break because as the scripture rightly said >“There’s an amazing door of opportunity standing wide open for me to minister here, even though there are many who oppose and stand against me.”[1 Corinthians 16:9 TPT]

There are many adversaries to your opportunity says the word of God. This is not an unknown truth. It’s so true, as many have dropped the ball of their opportunity just because some ‘Sanballat and Tobiah’ had risen against them. There are people who are never glad at the doors of progress of others. >Nehemiah 4:1-3 NKJV1)“But it so happened, when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, that he was furious and very indignant, and mocked the Jews. 2)And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish— stones that are burned?” 3)Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “Whatever they build, if even a fox goes up on it, he will break down their stone wall. >7)”Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry, 8)and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion.”[Nehemiah 4:7-8 NKJV]

Beware of the clever schemes of satan(the archenemy of God and His people), do not allow yourself to be exploited by him and his cohorts >“so that we would not be exploited by the adversary, satan, for we know his clever schemes.”[2 Corinthians 2:11 TPT]

Take advantage of your opportunity at all cost. Nehemiah never allowed the unpleasant words of his adversaries to deter him. They sent people to bombard them with words that drill fear into willing hands yet Nehemiah stood his grounds resisting the enemy. >Nehemiah 4:12 (NKJV)==>“So it was, when the Jews who dwelt near them came, that they told us ten times, “From whatever place you turn, they will be upon us.”

8)“History has given us an example of this with the Egyptian sorcerers Jannes and Jambres, who stood against Moses in their arrogance. So it will be in the last days with those who reject the faith with their corrupt minds and arrogant hearts, standing against the truth of God. 9)But they will not advance, for everyone will see their madness, just as they did with Jannes and Jambres!”[2 Timothy 3:8-9 TPT].

Scriptures says in >James 4:7(TPT)==>“So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you.” The way to go is to resist every adversary on the path of your opportunity (open door). You can’t afford to tolerate or permit them; you have to rise and resist vehemently the adversary of your opportunity. As you surrender yourself first to God, He will fight on your behalf. He won’t leave you to yourself. He did it for Joshua the high priest, He will do same and more for you. >Zechariah 3:1-2 (NKJV)==>“Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”

Nehemiah in resisting the enemy took to prayer >9)Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.”[Nehemiah 4:9 NKJV] >4)“Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity! 5)Do not cover their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before You; for they have provoked You to anger before the builders.”[Nehemiah 4:4-5 NKJV].

The adversary shall not stop your opportunity. Be confident of this,  for the God of your opportunity is the one who opens and no one is able to shut. >…He who has the key [to the house] of David, He who opens and no one will [be able to] shut, and He who shuts and no one opens:”[Revelation 3:7b AMP]Hallelujah!

Take your firm stand like Nehemiah and you will walk through your door of opportunity having no one defeat you>13)“Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows. 15)And it happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that God had brought their plot to nothing, that all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work.Nehemiah 4:13 & 15NKJV].

Opposition flees when you resist them by engaging the God of your open doors. >Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is.”[Ephesians 5:17(NKJV]Beloved you need God for there are many OPPORTUNITY ADVERSARIES.
