Word Study For Today: The Book of Deuteronomy 8:1-20.

Texts: 2 Chronicles 34:14-28. | Jeremiah 36:1-32. | Joshua 1:1-9.

Strength comes from the Word of God. The Word of God is a confidence booster any time, any day. God’s Word is His mindset, His thoughts, His plans, His strategy and much more. Joshua the son of Nun,  assistant of Moses, found himself having to step into the shoes of his predecessor. It was for him a bigger size of shoes, and God Who knows all and sees all, saw his jitteriness (with plenty butterflies in his tummy).

God knowing also what was ahead of Joshua, had to expressly encourage him, >6)“Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them” 7) “Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. [Joshua 1:6 -7 NKJV]◼️

Where would this strength he requires come from, if not from the Word of the Lord? As human being to human being, when you speak positive words to one another, it lifts the spirit, how much more the entrant of God’s Word. God admonished Joshua saying- ‘the strategy to the strength and courage you need is  that >8)This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”Joshua 1:8 [NKJV]◼️

By the study of God’s Word can the strength that comes from His Word be contacted. By the study and assimilation of God’s Word can direction come.

>Psalms 119:130(NKJV)says==> “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.”◼️

>“Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark.”[Isaiah 8:20 NLT]◼️

It’s so expedient to look into God’s Word. His Word is the perfect law that facilitates liberation. The Psalmist more than agrees to the strategy given to Joshua to study the Word and meditate on it hence >Psalms 119:15 (NLT)says==>“I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.”◼️

When you have a good grip (knowledge) or depth of understanding of any subject matter, it boosts confidence in you, hence affects your courage and boldness to deal. Daniel, by the in-depth study of God’s Word, gained understanding and knew exactly what was expected and what action to take.  >I, Daniel, learned from reading the word of the Lord, as revealed to Jeremiah the prophet, that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years.”[Daniel 9:2 NLT]◼️

By the study of God’s Word, revelation comes. You desire to hear God speak to you, study His Word. The study of God’s Word is the opening of God’s mouth in speech. When God speaks, discoveries of the uncommon is made. >“Your promises are the source of my bubbling joy; the revelation of your word thrills me like one who has discovered hidden treasure.”[Psalms 119:162 TPT]◼️ Scripture says it’s your responsibility, hence profiting to search out (a matter); the study of God’s Word is that research.

>Proverbs 25:2(NKJV)says==>“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”◼️

Joshua was rightly told, “to do well on this journey of leadership you are embarking on, you need to study the Word so you can be strong enough to withstand and overcome every evil intent”. God’s Word conquers evil. Let your steps therefore be ordered in life by the study of the Word of God, just as like Joshua; that evil will not overwhelm nor conquer you. >“Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.”

[Psalms 119:133 NLT]◼️

The king of JUDAH escaped terrible destruction and calamity via his reverence for the Word of God searched out. >II Chronicles34:19, 24, 26-28 (NKJV)==>19)“Thus it happened, when the king heard the words of the Law, that he tore his clothes.

24)“Thus says the LORD: ‘Behold, I will bring calamity on this place and on its inhabitants, all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah, 26)But as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, in this manner you shall speak to him, ‘Thus says the LORD God of Israel: “ Concerning the words which you have heard— 27)because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God when you heard His words against this place and against its inhabitants, and you humbled yourself before Me, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you, ” says the LORD. 28)“Surely I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace; and your eyes shall not see all the calamity which I will bring on this place and its inhabitants.” ’ ” So they brought back word to the king.”◼️

Beloved, >“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
