Word Study For Today: The Book Of Psalm Chapter 119:153-168.

Text: Psalms 111:1-10. | 1 Kings 18:18-39. | Zephaniah 3:5.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and same He is forever and ever. >Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV)==>“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

The God we serve never changes nor does He fail [because He is a Covenant keeping God].

>3)“I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to My servant David: 28)My mercy I will keep for him forever, And My covenant shall stand firm with him. 34)My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. 35)Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David:”[Psalms 89:3, 28, 34-35 NKJV].

God our God is a sure banker. He will not alter the word He has spoken, God is true and for real. Where He was yesterday with you is where He still stands today in promise. If you run to Him, He will answer you, He is not one of those gods that sleep on their followers. >Psalm 121:3b &4(NKJV)==>3b)“He will not allow your foot to be moved; 4)He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.”

The story of Elijah and the 450 prophets of baal buttresses the fact that our God, is the Rock that never fails. All other gods are the works of men and those who worship them are as silly as the idea of worshipping what they handcrafted. Elijah chose to prove [not to himself but to those who know not the efficacy and surety of the God we serve] that the Rock of Ages never fail. From age to age He is still the same. Elijah brought up the challenge to call on the real and unfailing God, the God who answers is God. Scripture says >24)“Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.” 25)Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it. ” 26)“So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made. 27(And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.” 28)So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. 29)And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.”[I Kings 18:26-29 NKJV].

The encounter above as recorded in the Bible is a classical example of what I call a failed god. Only a god as such, can act as such. How can you say you are their god and they call you [in time of desperation for that matter] and you’d not answer?

Our own God who is The Rock that never fails says >“Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.”[Isaiah 49:15 NKJV].

Little wonder almost before Elijah finished setting the stage, the ever faithful, ever sure God responded by fire. >30)“Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

36)And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “ LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. 37)Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” 38)Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. 39)Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!”[I Kings 18:30, 36-39 NKJV].

Halleluyah! Our God is the unfailing God. Call on Him, He will never fail you. >Psalms 91:15 (NKJV)==> “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”

>“I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!”[Isaiah 65:24 NLT].

>“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”[Joshua 1:5 NIV].

His assurances are so reassuring >>> The Rock Never Fails. >Psalm 111:3(NLT)==>3)Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails

>Zephaniah 3:5 (NKJV)==>“The LORD is righteous in her midst, He will do no unrighteousness. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He never fails, But the unjust knows no shame.”

God will remain faithful forever, He will never do an unrighteous thing. HE IS OUR UNFAILING GOD!
