Hellooooo, this is Mayokun Oreofe… taking you further this week on our topic FOCUS.

Focus is so pivotal to ACCOMPLISHMENT. If you must make the mark, then FOCUS is a major ladder to latch on to.

Focus helps people to sustain the effort and energy needed to reach a goal.

Focus doesn’t require a permanent no, but it does require a present no. You always have the option to do something else later, but in the present moment focus requires that you only do one thing.

Cheryl Richardson, says “To focus means to bring your attention to the center, to concentrate on one thing intently in order to gain clarity.”

Catherine Pulsifer said: “You must stay focused on the end result in order to achieve your goals.”

 

Looking at the story of Elijah and Elisha again, FOCUS BROUGHT ABOUT ELISHA’ S ACCOMPLISHMENT OF BOTH HIS IMMEDIATE AND ULTIMATE GOAL.

II Kings 2:6-13, 15 (NKJV)==> 6)“Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to the Jordan.” But he said, “ As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So the two of them went on. 7)And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing them at a distance, while the two of them stood by the Jordan. 8)Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground. 9$And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” 10)So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, IF YOU SEE ME WHEN AM TAKEN FROM YOU; but if not, IT SHALL BE SO. 11)” Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that SUDDENLY A CHARIOT OF FIRE appeared with horses of fire, and SEPERATED THE TWO OF THEM; AND ELIJAH WENT UP by a whirlwind into heaven. 12)AND ELISHA SAW IT, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces. 13)He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.

15)Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.”

FOCUSING IS A DELIBERATE INTENT AT CONCENTRATING ON THE ONE THING YOU ARE PURSUING.

ELISHA, WOULD HAVE MISSED HIS GOAL OF PURSUIT, IF NOT FOR HIS SEVERAL PRACTICE OF FOCUS:

IN GOING TO BETHEL AND JERICHO, HE HAD DISTRACTIONS YET HE CHOSE TO CONCENTRATE HENCE HE MADE IT IN WITH ELIJAH TO BOTH CITIES.

ON GETTING TO JORDAN, HE HAD YET ANOTHER SET OF MONITORS WATCHING WHAT WILL BECOME OF HIM.

ALAS, ELIJAH SAID TO HIM, ” IF YOU CAN REMAIN FOCUSED, AND YOU SEE ME WHEN AM TAKEN UP… THEN YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOAL OF TAKING A DOUBLE PORTION OF MY ANOINTING”.

ELIJAH ENGAGED HIM IN DISCUSSION ALONG THE WAY, YET THIS GUY ELISHA WAS RESOLUTE- HE PLUGGED HIS FOCUS ON ELIJAH, HENCE WHEN THE CHARIOT APPEARED SUDDENLY, HE STILL CAPTURED THE MOMENT- HE SAW ELIJAH TAKEN UP.

HE ACCOMPLISHED HIS PURPOSE.

Beloved, I pray that as the Lord lives and His Spirit lives, your eyes shall remain focused on purpose and you shall not miss the set out target in the name of Jesus Christ. May you accomplish purpose in Jesus Christ name.
