The dictionary defines IMPACT as the striking of one thing against another, the power to make other people act in a particular manner, or to agree with you. Impact also means impression, consequence, feeling, or strong effect that is left on something or someone.
It’s worthy of mention also that there is positive and negative Impact. Here, we’ll be focusing on the positive impact.
Let’s take a look at the meaning from the content of this scripture, in Matthew 5v14-16. The Word makes it clear that we can’t put light under a basket, but on a lampstand; meaning Impact is visible. You cannot be blinded to Impact. It also means Impact has the ability to affect our environment, and indeed, the whole world!
May I then submit to you that when you make impact, it’s not for yourself alone; acquiring knowledge for instance affects your action, and those around you. It is a catalyst, and it’s potent enough to affect the whole world.
Here’s where it gets more interesting.
Impact is illuminating, enlightening, it brightens, and Informative. It turns darkness to light.
When the Word of God says “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven”, it’s safe to deduce therefore that Impact is GOOD WORKS, especially positive impact. Meaning, when we make impact, we are glorifying God.
Let’s look at RUTH in the book of Ruth 2v11
Naomi’s story looked more like a tragedy, but her impact on Ruth’s life was both phenomenal and impressive, that Ruth still decided to follow her, regardless of the bitter experiences that seemed to characterise her life at that period- Naomi must have been very good to her.
Your seeds will speak. What kind of seeds are you sowing?
We are being called to a life of conscious and deliberate impact. Shun flippant attitudes, nonchalance. Even towards your customers, you must learn to impact them through customer service.
Be careful the impact you make in the lives of your children, because they will regurgitate the same to you. This area of our lives in particular is very sensitive: WHAT YOU DO WILL AFFECT YOUR CHILDREN!
The Word says “We are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden”…Impact is penetrable, it’s a light! When you rise up each day, you must act according to script, there is a pattern. You must live the will of God as it concerns your life. And in case you don’t know- people are hearing about you every day, they are reading about you.
Let us pray.
Father, I dedicate my life to your will today that I will make positive impact in my generation.
